Director, Cyber Threat Intelligence

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Director of Cyber Threat Intelligence to lead our efforts in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating cyber threats that specifically target the movie, television, and broader entertainment industries. This critical role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive threat intelligence strategy to protect our valuable content (pre-production, production, and post-production), intellectual property, sensitive data, and production operations from evolving cyber risks. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the unique threat landscape facing media and entertainment companies, including issues related to piracy, intellectual property theft, ransomware, insider threats, and sophisticated attacks targeting production pipelines and digital assets.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: 

  • Develop, implement, and mature a holistic cyber threat intelligence program tailored to the entertainment industry, covering content security, production security, corporate IT, and emerging technologies.

  • Align threat intelligence efforts with the overall business objectives and risk appetite of the organization.

  • Provide strategic guidance and actionable intelligence to senior leadership, security operations, legal, content protection teams and production security.

Threat Intelligence Lifecycle Management: 

  • Oversee the entire threat intelligence lifecycle: collection, processing, analysis, dissemination, and feedback.

  • Identify and prioritize intelligence requirements based on current and anticipated threats to the entertainment sector.

  • Leverage open-source intelligence (OSINT), commercial threat feeds, dark web monitoring, our global intel team, and industry partnerships to gather relevant threat data.

Content and Production Security Focus:

  • Develop specialized intelligence capabilities to track threats related to content leakage, piracy networks, pre-release content theft, and digital rights management (DRM) circumvention.

  • Monitor and analyze threats targeting production systems, workflows, and infrastructure, including on-location production environments, post-production studios, and digital asset management systems.

  • Proactively identify vulnerabilities and attack vectors relevant to creative workflows and intellectual property protection.

Analysis and Reporting: 

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of cyber threats, threat actors, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) relevant to the entertainment industry.

  • Produce timely, actionable intelligence reports, briefings, and alerts for various stakeholders, from technical teams to executive leadership.

  • Develop and maintain threat actor profiles specific to content theft, extortion, and disruption within the entertainment ecosystem.

Collaboration and Partnerships:

  • Foster strong relationships with internal security teams (SOC, incident response, vulnerability management), legal, content protection, security awareness, production security, and IT departments.

  • Represent the company in industry-specific threat intelligence sharing forums, law enforcement collaborations, and peer groups within the entertainment sector.

  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and security researchers to enhance threat intelligence capabilities.

Technology and Innovation: 

  • Evaluate and recommend new threat intelligence tools, platforms, AI/ML, and technologies to improve our detection, analysis, and response capabilities.

  • Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity trends, attack methodologies, and defensive technologies relevant to the entertainment industry.

Job Requirements:

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in cyber security, with at least 5 years in a dedicated cyber threat intelligence role, preferably within the entertainment, media, or related content-driven industries.

  • Proven experience building and leading a threat intelligence program from the ground up or significantly maturing an existing one.

  • Deep understanding of the unique cyber threat landscape facing the entertainment industry, including intellectual property theft, content piracy, pre-release leaks, ransomware, and attacks on production systems.

  • Strong knowledge of various threat intelligence frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK, Kill Chain) and intelligence methodologies.

  • Expertise in intelligence analysis techniques, including link analysis, pattern recognition, and trend forecasting.

  • Familiarity with common programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data analysis and automation.

  • Experience with threat intelligence platforms (TIPs), security information and event management (SIEM) systems, and security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) tools.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and build strong internal and external partnerships.

  • Direct experience with digital content security, DRM technologies, or anti-piracy operations.

  • Understanding of film/TV production workflows and associated security challenges.

  • Experience with insider threat detection and mitigation strategies.

  • Familiarity with cloud security in a production environment (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP for media workflows).

The anticipated base salary for this position is $180,000-$225,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
